COMMUNITY

OUTREACH

Read up about some of our outreach projects. Even better... you can get involved!

THE BRIDGE CENTRE

The Bridge Centre is partnered with and situated next to Smithy Bridge Methodist Church.

It aims to bring the love and reality of life with Jesus into the everyday situations and experiences of the community local to the church, through both practical and spiritual means.

The Bridge Centre is home to a charity shop and café and runs a number of community outreach events throughout the year.

SYKE CONNEXION

Syke Connexion brings together Syke Methodist Church and Syke Community base. Having almost achieved their goal of redevelopment of the structure of their building, Syke Connexion is ready to engage more with the community. Some of Syke Connexion's new initiatives include partnerships with Forest Church, 'Meet, Share, Eat' in conjunction with the People's Health Trust and the new Beaver Cub and Scout groups affiliated to Church.

Syke Connexion is exploring innovative ways of reaching the community through Christmas Story Telling outdoors and Ester events. Syke knows its mission and has solid plans for its expansion.

WHITWORTH

Our most current project involves developing our chaplaincy over the comunity of Whitworth. We are establishing an exciting new relationship with the Community Enterprise Trust (CET) that will provide much needed help for vulnerable people.

This will be opening in the Lighthouse Methodist Church building, hopefully in the New Year!

OTHER PROJECTS

THRUM HALL are currently exploring the opportunity for a lay worker to work with Children and families.

We have an established Community Choir that contributes to the life of Church and community. Our new project 'Under the Umbrella of Just Music' is to develop some resources to be used in the wider community, bringing the power of music to reach into peoples' lives for well-being, healing and restoration.

Our Toddler groups are very popular with the community and our Churches are busy everyday with their involvement in the Rochdale Soup Kitchen, Drum Beat Uganda and Sol Kidz Mexico. We also have a 'Keep Fit' club on Mondays for the older generations.

We host many groups including: Boys Brigade, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Rangers, Breast Cancer Support, Councillor Surgeries, Slimming World, WeightWatchers and Tap Dancing.

We hold regular community events. Most recently, we held our 'Angel Award Evening' which celebrated those angels within our community.

We also continue to hold our drop-in coffee mornings at the Library, our school prayer breakfast, our street evangelism and our 'Hearts and Healing Services.

We are very blessed by the work done outside the four walls of our Churches.
